Moen Technologies LLC is a technology licensing company that was established in 2001 to expand the uses and applications for – and, ultimately, to commercialize – the debit-platform telecommunications technology covered by three U.S. Patents assigned to the company.
The invention covered by the Moen patents covers a method of operating a telecommunications system that provides a message service to a plurality of end users using existing telecommunications lines in conjunction with a telecommunications network system such as the Internet, Intranet, Extranet or similar environment. Existing telecommunication lines incorporate a telecommunication switching network and a computerized central switching station to establish a billing system for purchasing usage relating to a third-party telephone number, with the usage based on a predetermined bulk rate for consumption of user time over a preset time period. It also includes distributing a user unit to end users for calling the third-party telephone number.
Moen Technologies is a portfolio company of IP Holdings LLC, the IP-centric merchant banking affiliate of General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent monetization firm. General Patent is the manager of Moen Technologies and was the exclusive licensing agent for the Moen patents.
General Patent’s monetization efforts resulted in the licensing of the Moen patents to PepsiCo, Inc. and the Coca Cola Company. Subsequent to that, Moen sold the patents to AVAT Consulting LLC.
